Rain forest


Day4 aimed at 21km previous Sandfly Point with the flow of rain and the river that poured down over the Arthur valley. It is different there from the place where it has walked until the day before, and is more rainy hither by exceed the Mackinnon pass.

It flows into the fiord the gas that springs in the Tasman sea, is cooled, and becomes rain. The amount of the rainfall is 7000m year, and one of the most moist districts in the world. (Yakushima Island in Japan is 4000mm in the plain, and the mountainous district is 10000mm from 7500mm. )

As for the hiking of Rain forest, rain is good. I took off the rainwear, expanded the umbrella, and walked by the one's own pace while taking the picture while enjoying Track of rain that fell softly.

Quintin Lodge departure (L)
The rain cover of my backpack is not found even if becoming departure time why. Because there was not a sign that rain stops, either it asked Hiro of the guide, it covered with the plastic bag, and it was finally in time for the departure of 7:45.

Trekking style (R)
It is typical equipment of the Europe and America people. They seem to like Shorts and Tights.


Tree road (L)
The wire net is put on all the tree roads, and the consideration to safety so as not to slip.

Such scenery continues by several kilometers.


Mackay Fall & Suspension Bridge
It takes a picture of the waterfall from the center of Suspension Bridge. However, the focus is not suitable because it shakes.




Weasel's trap (L)
One of the painful problems of NZ is a weasel. It was disliked because it preyed on the bird of native species though he was an immigrant. However, it seems that a vicious circle.

Obstacle (R)
This fallen dawn tree seemed the maximum obstacle in Track. It is a considerable thickness, and height is around of the chest. Europe and America people's wife is helped by the husband and gets it over. The woman in Japan is light. It flew up, and it seems to have jumped down.


Rocky Cutting
The rock was cut through by a former coalminer, and the road was cut open.

They cut the name and the date to the rock. The character has been left with "ASTENHOUS MAHON KUMARA MAY 1898 " The right is a view of the Arthur river from Rocky Cutting.


Ferns (L)
Ferns has grown further while descending the valley.
Giant Gate Fall rest room (R)
I take a rest eating the sandwich and the lemon of the remainder here.


Giant Gete Falls
It is a dynamic waterfall from which 30mile sign comes out soon. It is 3.5mile from here to Sandfly Point. The time required is 1 hour and 30-45 minute.

Sandfly Point
I arrived at about 15:10. It is said it is not good when asking for hot tea. The ship leaves for 15:15. The hotel key is received. It was directed that take the ship in a hurry.

Mitre Peak (1682m) of rain is looked at. It arrives at the Milford Sound port about 15:40.




Dinner
It is the last dinner of Group No: 128.

I got the meat of a delicious ram while speaking with Mr. and Mrs. rancher of NZ of the same seat (couple in the right).
He was a birth in 1938, and the same year and I. Mutually, it is a pensioner. It became the topic of the pension. We compared NZ with the amount of money of JA. NZ was an amount of money because the pension of NZ was few provided every two weeks when often hearing it.


Presentation of CERTIFICATE OF ACHIVEMENT
From PM 8:00 to presentation of long-awaited CERTIFICATE OF ACHIVEMENT after dinner.
The participant is called the name, and receives a maximum level blessing from the super-guide of four people. Embrace, the kiss, and the greeting of the Maori type were received from the guide. All members were moved very much.
I thought all presentations to be an event of a happy, by participated wonderful international amity.

Speech (L)
It is speech of the rancher in local NZ.
He participated by the married couple in commemoration of the 35th marriage anniversary. The result served as the anchor of 33.5mile arrival.

I thought that he was 33.5mile that was more difficult than anyone of the support of Heavyweight's wife. When he had expressed gratitude for being able to walk happily with you Japanese, he described the word of the reward though I at the end was not able to speak Japanese. I was moved very much because of his speech. I thought a wonderful couple.

CERTIFICATE OF ACHIVEMENT (R)
It is CERTIFICATE OF ACHIVEMENT that I got. The wonderful souvenir picture that had been taken when leaving was affixed to this CERTIFICATE OF ACHIVEMENT.


DVD & CD-ROM of souvenir
When the presentation ends, it is a souvenir of DVD (left) for the Milford Track introduction in all members.
Right CD-ROM is photograph collections of Milford Track enclosed with the souvenir picture of 33.5mile (W/CD NZ$35 purchase). The extension of the image was jpg, and had a high-resolution and two set standard image quality. t is OK even if the camera breaks or it fails if this is. I think these to be a wonderful souvenir.
